The NDWA-DWR 1981 Contract, Article 4(b)(iv), requires the State to establish a special contract claims procedure to facilitate and expedite the payment of compensation to landowners for the loss of net income in areas where an overland supply of water of comparable Contract quality and quantity is not otherwise made available by the Department of Water Resources (DWR) when a drought emergency exists pursuant to Article 4(b)(i).
DWR representatives will explain: the purpose of the claims procedure and how to fill out applications, the documentation landowners must provide to meet eligibility requirements, and their process and timeline for approving/denying claims. Compensation forms will be made available after the meeting at www.northdeltawater.net. The deadline to submit claim to DWR is anticipated to be April 1, 2023.
